2,000 towers of Jio damaged due to farmer movement, 1.5 crore mobile users affected

During the farmers' agitation in protest against the three new agricultural laws of the central government, an outsized number of sabotage in telecom towers has affected the services. Chief Minister Captain Singh's warnings and appeals from farmer organizations have proved to be baseless. The joint association of telecom companies like Airtel, Voda-Idea and Reliance Jio, and therefore the association of tower companies, Tower and Infrastructure Providers Association (TAIPA), have also appealed to not damage the tower in Punjab. The vandalism continues despite the Chief Minister warning of strict action.
Reliance Jio has been rapidly repairing some towers that are damaged thanks to demolition within the previous couple of days. consistent with sources, a complete of 826 sites were down as of Tuesday evening. Jio has about nine thousand telecom towers within the state. In September 2020, Reliance Industries sold the majority of Jio's telecom tower assets to Brookfield Infrastructure Partners LP of Canada.
